　　人生活在地球上，要生存，要发展，首先就得靠地球，靠有山有水，有森林有草原的大自然。可是有人误以为大自然是取之不尽，用之不竭的宝库，于是毁林而种，竭泽而渔，连连受到自然的惩罚而不自知。年复一年，森林变成了荒丘，绿洲沦为沙漠，致使世界上每年有20xx公顷农田被沙漠吞噬。这样下去经过若干年，地球上的绿地将全部被沙漠侵占，我们的子孙将无法生存!前些年，农村包产到户后，哄砍山林成风，我国务川县一个乡的近20xx亩杉木林，在一周之内被砍为平地。听到这个消息，我头疼，我愤怒，这样做的.农民太愚昧，太自私。还有很多正在干着类似务川的贻害子孙的事情：任滚滚浓烟弥漫天空，让高分贝的噪音刺激人的神经。

　　对此，我们应该深思。现代化社会使我们生活得更美好，现代科学也已充分揭示了环境保护的重要性。每个正直的公民，都应具备这样的历史眼光和忧患意识：要把我国建成一个理想的现代化强国，必须做到发展经济与保护环境同步，实现经济发展效益与社会效益的统一。

　　事实也是这样，几年前，大连污染严重，经过一系列的保护措施后，不仅使市容面目美观了，还带来了良好的经济效益，外商投资，中外合作等等，因此让大连成为现代化的大都市。

We did not see any fish in the river. The fiver was not so clear as before. Water quality was very bad. I am worried about it because water is important to all living things. Man can not live without water. I hope people pay more attention to this problem, especially the government. Try to control the pollution of water as early as possible.

I think what we can do is that we have to save every drop of water as possible as we can. For example, we must turn off the tap immediately after we use it. We can use a basin to wash our hands and faces. It’s also a good idea to encourage my friends and family members to join me! Only in this way can we live happily. Man has also modified the face of the earth by draining marshes and cutting through mountains to build roads and railways.

　　However, man's changes to the physical environment have not always had beneficial results. Today, pollution of the air and water is an increasing danger to the health of the planet. Each day thousands of tons of gases come out of the exhausts of motor vehicles. Smoke from factories pollutes the air of industrialized areas and the surrounding areas of the countryside. The pollution of water is equally harmful. The whole ecological balance of the sea is being changed and industrial wastes have already made many rivers lifeless.

　　Now environmental protection is more pressing than ever before. As we know, massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to man's existence. Indifference to these problems will mean committing . Therefore, effective measures should be taken and laws passed to conserve environment. Otherwise,man is certain to suffer from the serious consequences caused by this lack of care for his living surroundings.
